Academic Skills Advising: Evaluation for Program Improvement and Accountability

Webb, J., & McLean, P. (eds) (2002). Academic Skills Advising: Evaluation for Program Improvement and Accountability. Melbourne: Victorian Language and Learning Network.

This is an edited collection of chapters on evaluating for program improvement, written largely for staff specializing in academic skills development and targeting students struggling with aspects of academic literacy. However, some of the chapters discuss collaborative partnerships between Academic Skills Advisors and subject lecturers or coordinators. These are instructive regarding ways that evaluation processes can be used to improve course or unit offerings for students; particularly those struggling to adjust to university expectations. Many of the chapters include student surveys in their appendices.
