Tiddas Showin’ Up, Talkin’ Up and Puttin’ Up: Indigenous Women and Educational Leadership

Bunda, T. A., White, N., & Wilson, M. (2009). Tiddas Showin’ Up, Talkin’ Up and Puttin’ Up: Indigenous Women and Educational Leadership.

This ALTC project focused on developing Indigenous women’s’ leadership. In keeping with the ALTC’s objectives of fostering leadership capacity development, Indigenous women were encouraged to share their knowledge, learning and experiences in a workshop environment. Key concepts of Indigenous women’s’ leadership, a website and a women’s leadership network were developed. The project developed collegial support for Indigenous female academics through a Senior Circle of Indigenous women and through the involvement of non-indigenous female academic leaders. The project allowed Indigenous women academics to share their experiences, challenges and collegiality in a safe space, while considering their collective contribution to Indigenous women’s leadership within the university context.
